- From April 2022 to March 2023 Southend Foodbank have given out 15,087 emergency parcels to people in Southend & Rochford.
- 4,257 of these were provided for children.
- This represents a 62% increase from last year, a 131% increase from pre-pandemic levels, and a stark contrast to a 37% increase in national figures released by the Trussell Trust.
It’s not right that people in our community are needing a charity’s help to put food on the table. Everyone should be able to afford the essentials. The stark reality is that more and more people are finding themselves at our distribution centres, because the current financial climate is adding pressure onto incomes that are already stretched to the limit.
