Give Help

Donate money

Big or small, every gift you give helps transform lives.

Southend Foodbank is run by our community for our community – we rely on support from people like you to ensure we continue to stop people going hungry. Can you invest in the future of our project and help us provide much-needed support to people in crisis across south Essex?

Regular giving

Regular giving allows us to plan ahead, make cost-efficient purchases and cover day to day costs enabling us to continue to operate. We believe in creating sustainable projects that have a lasting impact. Your regular gifts enable us to be more strategic in how we fund and maintain work that helps people locally, ensuring that we can offer a place to turn to for people struggling with food poverty.

To set up a regular donation, please download a Standing Order Form here and return it by post or drop it into the foodbank office in Friendship House.

By adding Gift Aid, your donation will have more impact, at no additional cost to you.

Download a Gift Aid form here to increase your donation by 25p on top of every £1 you give.

One-off giving

Whatever you can give, big or small, every single donation helps. Giving money enables us to buy food and essentials for emergency aid for people who turn to the foodbank. This is increasingly important as donations fall while need in the local community is rising. Your donations mean the foodbank can stay open and running through the most challenging times.

Give as you sell

When you’re selling items on ebay you can add a charity donation percentage to your listing, to give part of the final sale or auction value to Southend Foodbank. ebay automatically collects your donation as part of the payment process through the PayPal Giving Fund and makes the donation on your behalf. You can also add GiftAid, which adds 25p for every £1 you give.

Add Gift Aid

If you’re a UK tax payer, you can add Gift Aid to your charitable donations.

Gift Aid means the government gives the charity 25p for every £1 you give. However, you must complete a Gift Aid declaration to allow the foodbank to claim this tax relief. Adding Gift Aid does not mean you pay anything extra,  the charity claims it on top of your donation.

You can download a Gift Aid form or you can complete a declaration whenever you donate through Crowdfunder or Wonderful.

Fundraise for us

Our handy fundraising booklet has ideas for how to get started with fundraising for the foodbank.

You can collect money or sponsorship for your brilliant fundraising ideas through Wonderful, Crowdfunder or Facebook, including setting up a birthday fundraiser on your own Facebook page. Using these platforms makes it easier for people to give and easier for you to give to us as all the admin is provided for you and the money ends up straight in the foodbank bank account.

You can raise money to buy food through Bankuet, an organisation that bulk buys and donates food to foodbanks, using their fundraising platform and resources. Once you have registered your fundraiser, all the money that is donated is then spent on food that we let Bankuet know we need and delivered to the foodbank.

Use social media

Even if you can’t give money right now, you can help boost fundraising by sharing on social media. Our next supporter could come from your Twitter, Facebook or Instagram posts.

Foodbanks often rely on social media to get the message out when they need support as well as using it to reach people who need help. Extra follows and interactions make it easier for foodbanks to stay visible online.

Find, follow and share from Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
