The Big Help Out has been launched to mark His Majesty The King’s Coronation. Southend Foodbank has opportunities for you to join in and show support for your community.
Can you lend a lend a hand by organising a food collection in your street? You can download a Foodbank Street Party poster and bring your donations to our warehouse at Friendship House, 484 Southchurch Road, Southend on Sea, SS1 2QA, between 10am to 12pm on Monday 8 May.

Record number of emergency food parcels provided to people facing hardship by Southend Foodbank in past 12 months
New annual figures from Southend Foodbank show that over 15,000 food parcels were given out to people in Southend and Rochford between April 2022 and March 2023 – more than ever before. Alarmingly more than 4,000 of the parcels were provided for children.

You can donate food or volunteer your time to local supermarket collection weeks.

- Friday 9 June to Sunday 11 June – Waitrose Southend-on-Sea, Fossetts Way, Eastern Avenue, Southend-on-Sea SS2 4DQ

Food, sweat and beards fundraiser
One of our foodbank volunteers is shaving his head and beard this month to raise funds for Southend Foodbank. Donations can be made through Nigel’s Crowdfunder page.
May opening hours
Southend Foodbank is open as usual in May, with the exception of the Bank Holidays. On Monday 8 May, Ferndale will be closed and the warehouse open 10am to 12pm for The Big Help Out Bring In. On Monday 29 May, Hawkwell, the warehouse and office will all be closed. For more information about opening times, please visit our website[locations].
